Tools for Teachers, Scout Leaders,
Neighborhood Associations, Citizens and Parents

The CVWMA offers a variety of educational tools for citizens in Central Virginia. Whether you are working with a group of adults or children, CVWMA can help you teach the value of recycling.   Our most popular item is our award-winning* educational program Journey Through the MRF a custom video about recycling in central Virginia that comes with educational products. The Virginia Trekkers created an educational recycling PodCast on the MRF and recycling, click here to view the PodCast.

Journey Through the MRF: a video field trip inside a recycling facility & Resource Toolkit (elementary & up)

Kids follow the journey of items collected in local curbside and drop-off recycling bins through the MRF (Materials Recovery Facility) and eventually back into grocery stores. The Toolkit comes in a tote bag made from recycled soda bottles and includes samples of products made from recycled materials and fun educational activities for students in kindergarten through high school.  Correlated to the Virginia Standards of Learning.  DVD or VHS

Virginia Trekkers Recycling Podcast developed by 4 teachers.

*Journey Through the MRF received a 2005 Excellence Award from the Solid Waste Association of North America.
