PRESENTATIONS
Invite a local expert to visit your school, scout troop, church
group, civic/neighborhood association or other
organization. First, check out the local
contacts for a representative of your community.
If one of those individuals is not available, complete this
FORM and
fax it to (804) 359-8421. CVWMA staff can customize
presentations for a variety of topics and age
levels. Requests must be made at least two
weeks in advance (four weeks if requests are for March, April or
May).

TFC Recycling does

For information about touring TFC's materials recovery
facility (or MRF) where recyclables are
processed, please contact CVWMA at info@cvwma.com or 359-8413.
Tours are typically held twice a year, in the spring to observe
Earth Day and in the fall to observe America Recycles
Day. Minimum age of participants:18
years old. Tours are not available for school groups, scout groups
or anyone under the age of 18.
TFC Recycling (TFC) is not staffed to offer
private tours for small groups, or
authorized to offer tours for
participants under the age of 18 such as scout troops or school
groups.
Each tour is limited to 10 participants.
The facility that will be toured is operated by CVWMA's curbside
recycling contactor. It is located in Chester,
Virginia. The facility processes 40,000 tons of materials
collected locally each year from CVWMA programs. It is a
single-stream facility, which means it processes mingled
recyclables (bottles, cans, paper, glass, cardboard, etc).
Schools, Scouts
Since no one under the age of 18 can participate in a MRF tour,
CVWMA offers the following resources for younger children. Contact
CVWMA staff to borrow "Journey Through
the MRF: a video field trip inside a recycling facility".
or feel free to view this excellent PodCast developed by 4 local
educators at Virginia Trekkers
PodCast on Recycling.
