Save your electronics from the landfill... Recycle them
with CVWMA!
|
On
Saturday November 6th, CVWMA partnered with Henrico County to offer
the first event in our new electronics collection program. Held at
the Western Government Center on Parham, the event attracted more
than 75 cars filled with an assortment of electronic devices,
including computers, televisions, VCRs and telephones. Over 6,000
pounds of materials were collected. Equipment will be evaluated for
reuse potential; items unusable in their current condition will be
dismantled for parts or recycling.
Events
will also be held on the next two Saturdays from 9 am to 3 pm. The
November 13th event will be held at the Chesterfield Government
Complex on Route 10. The November 20th event will occur at the
Science Museum of Virginia. Fees apply for computer monitors and
televisions, but other equipment is collected at no charge. Each
event is open to anyone; you do not need to be a resident of
Chesterfield or Richmond to participate.

CVWMA
is also partnering with the Children's Museum of Richmond this fall
in celebration of America Recycles 2004. On Saturday November 13th,
families visiting the Museum will learn all about recycling by
playing games and creating art with recyclable materials. The Art
Studio utilizes reusable and recyclable materials year round to help
kids explore their creativity, but this ethic is spreading to the
entire Museum on this one special day!
Museum visitors are encouraged to bring donations to the Studio to
help them continue their artsy recycling (see list). These items
help the Studio use its limited funds to purchase other needed
equipment. To donate any of the items below, visit the front desk of
the Museum or contact Susan DuVal, Art Education Coordinator, at
474-7055 for more information.
