Governor Kaine recognized April as Electronics Recycling Month in
Virginia with a resolution that states, "it is the policy of the
Commonwealth of Virginia to protect its atmosphere, lands and waters
from pollution, impairment or destruction." This includes
"electronic devices such as computers and televisions which contain
materials that can be hazardous to human health and the environment
if they are not properly managed."
Co-sponsored by the Virginia Recycling
Association (VRA) and Computer Recycling Initiative, Electronics
Recycling Month was designed to spread awareness of the hazards
discarded electronics pose to the environment and highlight Virginia
recycling opportunities.
CVWMA events that are part of Electronics
Recycling Month include a collection April 22nd (Earth Day) at the
Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen in Henrico and April 29th at
Bryan Park in Richmond. Two additional events are being planned for
May, one in Chesterfield and one in Prince George.
