  Beginning 9/1/11 Hanover County  offers several options to its residents that want to recycle at the curb.

           1.  Residents may use an alternate container (anything over 40 gallons must have steel bar for easy tipping).  

                You can contact CVWMA to to mail you stickers to identify the container for recycling upon request.

           2.  96- gallon recycling carts are available through an online purchase, $65 user fee.Purchase Cart

           3.  24- gallon recycling bins are available for purchase online purchase, for $16 each Purchase 24 gallon bin 

  • Leaf Disposal Options in Hanover County

        Hanover County does not pick up leaves, but County residents have several ways to dispose of them.The County accepts 

          loose leaves, grass and yard waste (limbs up to four inches in diameter and less than six feet in length) at its Mechanicsville

          Solid Waste Convenience Center and the Rt. 301 Landfill Yard Waste Area. The Elmont and Courthouse Solid Waste

          Convenience Centers accept loose leaves and grass but not brush. There is no charge for this service.

Site features a drop-off recycling center for cans, bottles, paper, etc.

Other items collected include:  tires, appliances, propane tanks, cell phones, textiles, oil, antifreeze, oil filters, paints and other materials, rechargeable batteries, lead acid batteries. Lawnmowers can be recycled, please drain fluids.

Doswell Solid Waste Convenience Center

Doswell Rd.   (Rt. 688) 

Site features a drop-off recycling center for cans, bottles, paper, etc.

Items collected include:  tires, appliances, propane tanks, cell phones, textiles, oil, antifreeze, oil filters, paints and other materials, rechargeable batteries, lead acid batteries. Lawnmowers can be recycled, please drain fluids.
