doesn’t have a bin- how do I get one?
My bin is broken/damaged- can I have another one?
I will
be moving soon. Does my new house have curbside recycling?
Call the
Recycling Hotline at 340-0900 or
complete the online form to request a bin.
Bin delivery can take
up to two weeks after the request is made. Program information can
also be mailed at your request.
If your bin is damaged and we send a replacement, please throw the old
bin away. While our bins contain recycled plastic, we are unable to
collect and recycle them.
If you
are moving from a home that has curbside recycling collection,
remember to leave your CVWMA bin at your old house. The bin
belongs to the house, not to you! If your new address is
eligible for curbside collection and you don't have a bin there, we
will be glad to send one out.
Can I
have another bin?
What do I do with the recyclables that won’t fit inside my bin?
The CVWMA
encourages residents to use brown paper grocery
bags or rigid containers 40 gallons or less in size (such as a plastic
tote) to hold extra recyclables. Please do not put the top or
lid on the container.
We provide stickers to
clearly mark your container for recycling to family members and
drivers. Complete the
online form to request your free stickers.
What do
I do if my recycling isn’t collected on the scheduled day?
Nearly 230,000 homes are provided with
curbside recycling collection. Collection may begin as early as
7:00 am and may continue until 7:00 pm. Please be patient if the
drivers drive past your home. Collection often occurs at
different times for each side of the street.
If you are missed, leave your bin at the curb. Report the missed
collection to the Recycling Hotline at 340-0900 within 3 days and we
can send someone back. If you are calling after business hours,
leave a message and your request will be processed the next business
day.
I seem
to be the only one on my street that recycles. How can I
encourage my neighbors to recycle?
All homes eligible for curbside recycling service receive our annual
mailing of the Curbside Recycling Collection
Schedule in January. This generally prompts many
non-recyclers who want to begin recycling to call us.
If your community publishes a newsletter or holds community meetings,
contact CVWMA staff to inquire how
we may be of assistance. We can supply an article for your newsletter
or give a presentation on the benefits of recycling.
For
questions not addressed above, please call the Recycling Hotline at
340-0900 or
