No Need to Sort!   We don't require materials to be sorted.  However,   if you prefer to keep like items together to organize and contain your recyclables between collections, that's okay, too!  Don't be alarmed if the items are mixed in the truck together.  Everything will be separated at the processing facility in Chester. Please Recycle Only These Items: Newspapers Include glossy inserts/slick advertisements   Mixed Paper Catalogs, magazines, "junk" mail, computer paper, phone books, corrugated cardboard boxes and cereal/dry food boxes      No gift wrapping paper or foil      No napkins or tissues      No plastic coated paper      No hardcover books FLATTEN BOXES Cans and Foil Aluminum cans, steel food & beverage cans, aluminum foil, & foil products      No aerosol cans      No aluminum siding or other scrap metal      No pesticide or herbicide containers   RINSE & CRUSH LABELS ARE OKAY Plastic Bottles with a or Only narrow-neck bottles with a PETE (or PET) or HDPE on the bottom such as soda, shampoo & detergent bottles and milk jugs      No plastic bags      No "wide-mouth" plastic containers (tubs or cups)      No motor oil bottles      No plastic with  numbers other than or   RINSE, DISCARD LIDS, CRUSH, LABELS ARE OKAY Glass Bottles and Jars Clear, brown & green food & beverage containers      No caps or bottle tops of any kind      No window glass, dishes, cooking dishes, or drinking glasses      No ceramic, light bulbs, or mirrors    RINSE & DISCARD LIDS LABELS ARE OKAY   Please DO NOT Include These Items in your Curbside Bins: X Foam Products Including cups and takeout boxes.  We can't accept them because we don't have a market for them in this area. X Plastic Bags of ANY kind Do not recycle plastic bags in our bins or use them to hold extra materials.  Plastic bags can cause equipment damage at the processing facility when they get wrapped around moving parts. X Food-contaminated items Such as pizza boxes or aluminum foil.  Any food left on your containers may attract pests to your recycling bin.  Food residue also contaminates the materials and make them unrecyclable. X Juice Boxes or Milk Cartons Including cups and takeout boxes.  These are made of plastic-coated paper or cardboard, but can't be recycled with regular paper or cardboard.  If you thought these were included in the past, you're right, however our market for them has declined and we can no longer accept them.  X Plastics Other than Bottles marked with a 1 or 2 Including sour cream containers, yogurt cups, etc.  Reuse them at home to hold small things or throw them away.  For more info about plastics, click here. X Lids or Caps Remove and throw away plastic or metal caps/lids from accepted bottles or jars before putting them in the bin. The plastic lids are made from a different material than the plastic bottles we do accept and become a contamination when mixed with them.  The metal lids often contain several additional layers, including plastics.   You may also call the Recycling Hotline at 340-0900 to speak with our team of customer service representatives.
