Drop-Off Recycling

Locations
Materials and Preparation Tips

CVWMA offers convenient drop-off recycling to residents of central Virginia.  Collection containers are located at forty-seven sites in eleven participating counties and cities.

The  green drop-off containers feature large  openings for the collection of two recyclable "streams" - mixed paper and mixed containers.

Newest Site:  Behind the Science Museum of Virginia, in the special events parking lot at the corner of Leigh Street and DMV Drive.

Items accepted include aluminum and steel cans, plastic bottles, cardboard, junk mail and glass bottles and jars.  Click here to learn more about the materials collected in the drop-off program.

Newspaper is collected in separate newspaper-only bins.  Look for the container below at the site you use:

Through a contract with SP Recycling Corporation, CVWMA provides these separate newspaper containers at 25  recycling centers throughout the region.  Newspaper collection bins are also provided to various apartment and townhouse developments.  If separate bins are not available, include newspaper in the mixed paper bins.

Newspaper collected in these containers is used to create 100% recycled newsprint for the central Virginia region!
