 Battery Recycling
CVWMA has programs that provide residents with the means to recycle rechargeable, button and lead acid batteries. Alkaline batteries, the common household variety, are relatively harmless and can be thrown in the trash. Click the battery names below for collection points in Central Virginia.
Rechargeable Batteries Commonly found in cordless appliances (including phones), laptop computers, cordless power tools and camcorders. Includes nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal hydride, lithium ion, and small (less than 2.2 pounds) sealed lead acid batteries.
Button Batteries Commonly found in calculators, hearing aids, watches and cameras
Lead Acid Batteries Commonly used to power vehicles and boats
Alkaline Batteries Includes traditional household batteries such as A, AA, 9-volt, etc.
