Larger recycling carts
How to Recycle
- Cart, Bin or Alternate Containers
Did you know
that YOU can use practically any container to
hold your recycables? You do not have to use the CVWMA 24 gallon
green bin or 96 gallon cart. Of course, if you need one let us
know. But don't let that stop you from setting out your recyables
immediately in any rigid container such as plastic tote, small
trash can, etc. Even your cardboard moving boxes will
do!
Anything that is convenient for you
to use. It's that easy!
CVWMA is offering
larger carts as an option for residents. We are offering them as an
added convenience to recycle, recognizing it is not going to be the
right thing for everyone. This is a choice and no one
is obligated. CVWMA cannot afford, nor can our
curbside member jurisdictions afford, to purchase one for everyone
in the region at this time.
If you already own a larger cart, or would
like to purchase one of your own, it must meet certain requirments.
These include: must be a rigid container; anything over 40 gallons
must have a steel bar on the container for easy tipping. CVWMA will
mail free stickers to identify your container as
recycling.

The 96
gallon containers, known as "carts" or "super cans", that will be
used for this program are approximately 96-gallons and provided to
the customer for a user fee of $65. The fee does not purchase the
cart for the resident. The cart will remain part of the program and
shall remain with the property.
The cart will be delivered and repaired by
the contractor (TFC Recycling) if damaged by the driver, also at no
additional fee. To report any damage or issues with your 96 gallon
recycling cart, please call the Recycling Hotline at 340-0900.
Please note, if the cart is stolen, it will not be replaced by
CVWMA or TFC Recycling. You will need to notify your local police
department.
| 1. |
Is
the $65 fee a user fee, yearly rental or one time
ownership? |
| |
It is a one

time of purchase. If the homeowner moves, the larger cart is to
stay at the existing address. |

Will
the carts be collected in alleys? |
| |
No, this is
a curbside program. |
| 3. |
Is
there an assistance program for eligible homeowner's to get a
larger cart? |
| |
No. This is
a choice and no one is obligated. |
| 4. |
What
happens if we purchase a cart and it is
stolen? |
| |
Please note,
if the cart is stolen, it will not be replaced by CVWMA or TFC
Recycling and you will need to notify your
police. |
