Drop-Off Recycling

CVWMA offers convenient drop-off recycling to residents of central Virginia.  Collection containers are located at forty-one locations in eleven participating counties and cities.  All locations feature the Mixed Item Containers; some sites also have smaller bins for newspaper, magazines and catalogs.

CVWMA's new containers feature a large slot for cardboard.

Mixed Item Containers

The green drop-off containers feature large openings and collect mixed paper and mixed containers.

Sites will have one or more of these containers.  Sites with space contraints use one container with a divider in the center to keep mixed paper and mixed containers separate.  Other sites have two containers:  one is for paper items, the other for containers.    The instructional decals on the containers explain where to place specific materials.

Items accepted include aluminum and steel cans, plastic bottles, cardboard, junk mail and glass bottles and jars. Click here to learn more about the materials collected in the drop-off program.

Newspaper, Magazine & Catalog Bins

At some sites, newspaper, magazines and catalogs are collected in smaller bins.  If the container below is at the site you use, place your newspaper (loose or bagged in paper grocery bags), magazines and catalogs inside.  If separate bins are not available, include these items in the mixed paper bins.

CVWMA provides these separate collection containers at 25 locations throughout the region through a contract with SP Recycling Corporation.

These collection bins are also provided to various apartment and townhouse developments.

Newspaper collected in these containers is used to create 100% recycled newsprint for the central Virginia region!
