Household Hazardous Waste
and Electronics Collection

 

HHW and Electronics Collection Events are being scheduled for 2008. Check back for dates in the spring.

Time: 12 noon - 4:00 pm

 

 

 

Two Collections in One!

        

 

Accepted Hazardous Waste Items

 

No Fees for Hazardous Waste Items.
Open to City of Richmond Residents Only.  Bring proof of City residency (utility bill, car registration, etc).

 

Solvents: mineral spirits, paint thinner, turpentine, acetone

Paints:  oil or latex based, polyurethane, tung oil, stains

Fuels:  gasoline, #2 fuel oil, kerosene, diesel fuel, chain saw fuel or motor boat fuel  

Car Fluids and Batteries:  motor oil, transmission oil, antifreeze, lead acid batteries only

 

Household Cleaners & Drain Openers

Herbicides & Pesticides

Mercury-containing Devices:  thermometers, etc

  

Not Accepted Items
Smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, asbestos, road flares, explosives, and shock sensitive, radioactive, or infectious materials

 

 

 

Accepted Electronic Items

Fees charged to recycle televisions and monitors ONLY. All other items, free.
Open to citizens and businesses, no restriction on locality.

    

Televisions:    plastic TVs ($5 fee each),  wood-encased TVs ($10 fee each)

Computers:  monitors ($5 fee each), computer systems, computer accessories, printers, scanners, copiers

Compact fluorescent light bulbs:  25 cents fee each

Other Items:  telephones & cell phones, fax machines, VCRs & camcorders, stereos, microwaves

 

Computer accessories include cables, wires, keyboards, mice, speakers, etc.  No other appliances besides microwaves accepted.  

 

Fees for TVs and monitors charged to cover transportation costs of shipping these items to the Midwest where the leaded glass is removed and recycled. Payment is accepted by cash or check payable to Advanced Technologies, Inc.
